Google officially released a basic single-page website builder designed for small businesses.
The new tool, simply called “Website”, is free and promises to allow small business owners to create and edit websites in minutes on either desktop or mobile. Google Website promises to make it much easier for any budding business to build an online presence without the cost and stress.
To quote Google My Business:
One of the most common actions people take when exploring a Google listing is to go to the web site, but we know that getting a website can still be a challenge for a lot of small business owners around the world: too complex, too expensive, too time consuming. Millions of small businesses (60% of small businesses globally) don’t yet have a website.
Google Website is an extension of Google My Business, and one of the requirements is that you will need to have a completely filled out information page on Google My Business to use of the tool. As Google automatically pulls the information from your listing to create the website, it will be essential to ensure that the information is accurate. The tool will then allow you to edit and customise the theme, layout and images for the site.
It is an interesting move that will surely be welcomed by many Small businesses as they begin to setup an online presence and have concerns over the cost of setting up a website with basic information on the company and its products. Any new startup setting up a Google My Business listing will be given the option to create a new Website from this day forward.
For anyone who already has a Google My Business listing, you can simply login to your account, find your business listing, manage location and select “Website” from the menu that appears.
